Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost in the Western Christian liturgical calendar. Trinity Sunday celebrates the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Collect: "Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen."

What a wonderful spirit-filled Day of Pentecost or "Whitsunday" we had at Holy Cross!
The beautiful red altar flowers representing the "tongues of fire" were given by Sara and Rickey Dixon in thanksgiving for their daughter Emma on her birthday! Today's flowers were shared with Fr. Scott and Angie in hopes to lift their spirits as they recuperate from COVID...
Following the service, we had a small reception to celebrate the birthday of the Christian Church! The cake represented some of the elements of Pentecost:
White Dusting of Powdered Sugar for "Whitsunday"
Large Candle in Center represents Christ our Light, who promised to send the Holy Ghost
12 Birthday Candles represent the 12 Apostles and the tongues of fire
Red flames made of strawberries also decorated the cake
Hope you have a blessed Day of Pentecost!

Here's Dennis Wujcik, Holy Cross Organist, playing Hymn 517 "Come Down, O Love Divine." Thanks, Dennis!

Hope you will join us at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 209 Park, West Memphis, AR, on Pentecost Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Judy Pirani, Lay Minister, will lead us in Morning Prayer.
The festival of Pentecost is still important to Christians today because it represents the beginning of the Christian Church. It reminds us of how Jesus' promise that God would send the Holy Spirit was fulfilled.
As we love any excuse for a party, following the service, we will celebrate with cake since Pentecost is considered the birthday of the church!
The service will be held in person and will also be streamed via Facebook Live:

Pentecost is the festival when Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is celebrated on the Sunday 50 days after Easter (the name comes from the Greek pentekoste, "fiftieth"). Pentecost is regarded as the birthday of the Christian church, and the start of the church's mission to the world. We encourage everyone to wear red to symbolize joy and the fire of the Holy Spirit!

Collect: "Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen."
